Jennifer Bentley currently serves as the Deputy Inspector General for the City of Detroit Office of Inspector General. She joined the office in January 2014 as an investigator and was appointed as the agency’s attorney in July 2017. In her current role, Ms. Bentley manages administrative operations and assists in overseeing investigations and audits. She has extensive experience conducting and supervising complex investigations and debarment matters, and has played a key role in developing the office’s policies and procedures. Ms. Bentley conducts trainings for public servants and contractors to raise awareness about the mission and authority of the OIG. Prior to her work in oversight, she practiced in the areas of civil litigation, employment law, and Social Security disability. She began her career as a high school social studies teacher. A proud graduate of the University of Michigan, Ms. Bentley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from U-M Ann Arbor, a Master’s Degree in New Professional Studies from George Mason University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
