The Association of Inspectors General (AIG) is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that supports independent offices of inspector general in their fight to combat government waste, fraud and abuse. AIG represents thousands of members working in hundreds of offices of inspector general across the United States and internationally.

Since 1996, AIG has served a distinguished and diverse membership. Its membership includes inspector general professionals serving at the local, state, and federal government and the military. Members include executive leadership, criminal and civil investigators, auditors, evaluators, and legal counsel.

How many chapters does AIG have?

The AIG currently has six chapters: District of ColumbiaFloridaIllinoisNew York/New JerseyTexas, and Western States.

How do I become a member?

You can sign up on the registration page here.

How much does membership cost?

We offer a number of membership options that vary in price from $50 to $150 per year. Students may join for a discounted rate of $25.

Can I join AIG if I am not yet employed in the field?

Yes. Membership in the AIG is open to everyone wishing to join.

What networking opportunities are there for members?

Members have the opportunity to meet and network with inspectors general and the staff of IG offices nationally and internationally, as well as related professionals, students, and other members of the IG community by participating in AIG-sponsored events. In addition, as a board-certified member of the National Association of States Board of Accountancy (NASBA), AIG’s training conferences, Institute courses, and training workshop attendees are eligible for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
