The Association of Inspectors General (AIG) has issued an open letter, signed by AIG President Will Fletcher, expressing support for California Assembly Bill 1608 (AB 1608) regarding the Office of the Inspector General for High-Speed Rail (OIG-HSR).
In the letter, AIG explains that its support is based on the bill's effect on the structure, authority, independence, transparency, and effectiveness of the OIG-HSR, as evaluated through the framework of AIG's Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General (the "Green Book").
The letter highlights several provisions intended to strengthen the independence and effectiveness of the OIG-HSR, including expanded access to information, increased operational flexibility, protections for confidential information, and enhanced transparency and reporting requirements.
