Brigitte Bishop has been appointed Director of the Bureau of independent investigation (BEI), an organization that conduct investigation into any incident in which the death or serious injuries of a person may have result form the conduct of a police officer. BEI has jurisdiction over municipal, regional and provincial police officers.
She has been Inspector General of the City of Monreal from 2018 to 2024. A member of the Quebec Bar since 1989 and holder of a higher studies diploma specializing in financial crime, she was a criminal prosecutor for 27 years.
She was part of several teams specializing in criminal prosecutions, notably those outlaw motorcyclists and those relating to the fight against corruption, money laundering and proceeds of crime. Mrs. Bishop has also sat on various consultation tables aimed at developing municipal, provincial and federal bills. She also presented memorandums at the United Nation (UN) council and participated in various conferences in Africa and Europe.
The former Inspector general of the City of Montreal has been an active member of the Board of Director of the Association of Inspector General since 2020.
Brigitte also sits on the Board of Directors of Transparency International Canada.
