Michael Castrilli is the Executive Director of the Association of Inspectors General (AIG). As Executive Director, Michael leads AIG’s international membership, certification, training, events, marketing, and public affairs initiatives aimed at advancing the professionalism, independence, and effectiveness of Offices of Inspectors General. Prior to leading AIG, Michael served as Senior Program Director at Working in Support of Education (W!se), where he directed national financial literacy certification programs for high school students and educators.
Previously, Michael was a business fellow at Villanova University’s School of Business, where he taught graduate courses in the Master of Science in Church Management program. He has written extensively on nonprofit finance, management, and performance measurement, and is the co-author of the book Parish Finance: Best Practices in Church Management. Michael has experience in both the public and private sectors. He has served in numerous capacities as a strategic adviser, trainer, and executive facilitator to Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. He previously served as Director of Training and Professional Services at Decision Lens, where he built the company’s first online training platform, Decision Lens University. Earlier in his career, he was an executive facilitator at Corporate Executive Board and a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.
He began his career in Washington, DC as a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Justice. He earned an MPA from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, an MDiv from Washington Theological Union, and a BA in Education from University at Albany.
