The City of Chicago is seeking a highly accomplished, independent, and principled leader to serve as its next Inspector General–the City's chief oversight official responsible for promoting integrity, accountability, and effectiveness across one of the nation's largest and most complex municipal governments.

The Chicago OIG is among the largest municipal inspector general offices in the country, with more than 100 full-time staff and an annual operating budget of approximately $14.2 million. The Inspector General oversees a multidisciplinary organization and regularly engages with City leadership, elected and appointed officials, labor representatives, external partners, and the public on sensitive and high-profile matters.

The ideal candidate will be a respected, independent leader with sound judgment and a deep commitment to ethical government. Successful candidates will bring senior-level experience in investigations, audits, oversight, or law enforcement; the ability to navigate complex political and organizational environments; and a clear understanding of the importance of independent oversight in large public-sector institutions.
