The Association of Inspectors General is a professional, non-profit organization that supports and advances the professionalism and integrity of Inspectors General offices. The Association serves as a civic, educational, charitable, and benevolent organization for the exchange of ideas, information, education, knowledge, and training among municipal, local, state, national and international Inspectors General.
Since 1996, the Association of Inspectors General has served a distinguished and diverse membership. Its members represent professionals from international, national, state and local entities and includes: Inspector General executive management, criminal and civil investigators, auditors, evaluators, and IG legal counsel.
The Association fosters and promotes unbiased and independent oversight, public accountability and integrity in the prevention, examination, investigation, audit, detection, elimination and prosecution of fraud, waste and abuse, through policy research; standardization of practices, policies, conduct and ethics; encouragement of professional development by providing and sponsoring educational programs; and the establishment of professional qualifications, certifications and licensing. Qualified practitioners are eligible to apply for admission to the INSPECTOR GENERAL INSTITUTE® where, upon successful completion of the curriculum, they may attend the CERTIFIED INSPECTOR GENERAL® PROGRAM, CERTIFIED INSPECTOR GENERAL AUDITOR® PROGRAM, CERTIFIED INSPECTOR GENERAL INVESTIGATOR® PROGRAM, or the CERTIFIED INSPECTOR GENERAL INSPECTOR/EVALUATOR® PROGRAM.
