Job Duties

The Office of the State Inspector General (OSIG) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Senior Auditor within its Audit Division. The purpose of the position is to plan and conduct performance audits of programs, activities and functions in executive branch state agencies and make recommendations that will enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of state government operations. Additionally, the position may assist with oversight of state agency internal audit programs, DBHDS licensed providers, Community Service Boards and others. This position serves as auditor-in-charge of audits, leading other auditors assigned to the audit. The position may assist with or conduct special investigations or special projects. The primary products from this position are audit reports supported by comprehensive workpapers.

Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive audit, process improvement, or program evaluation experience; Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret Government Auditing Standards or equivalent government and business processes; Demonstrated knowledge and ability to research and interpret applicable federal, state and local government laws, regulations, statutes or equivalent corporate policy; Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform government performance audits or equivalent process improvement projects or program evaluations; Skills to identify and document processes including policies, inputs, activities and outputs through narratives or flowcharts; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to interact and communicate effectively within the audit team and executive management at OSIG and other state agencies and institutions, legislators and the citizens of the Commonwealth; Ability to confer with agency representatives to present and defend the findings and recommendations of the audit and nonaudit reports; Ability to write audit reports including findings and recommendations; Demonstrated ability to develop applicable audit or process improvement identification procedures; Demonstrated ability to document work performed on audits or process improvement projects; Experience using audit software; Experience using audit software and Good PC skills (Word processing, spreadsheets, email) are a must. High School Graduate or equivalent.

Additional Considerations

Experience as the lead auditor on complex projects; Experience in auditing application systems and knowledge of information systems; Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), or other equivalent professional certification.
