The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is committed to detecting and preventing fraud, waste and abuse within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). LAUSD is the second largest school district in the nation with an enrollment of nearly 575,000 students. We serve an area totaling 710 square miles, with over 1,190 schools and educational centers, and we employ over 74,000 individuals, making us one of the largest employers in our city.

The OIG is seeking an Investigative Assistant to provide technical support to investigators in the planning and conduct of complex and sensitive fraud investigations regarding violations of District policy. We are looking for a candidate with fraud investigative experience. This candidate would also demonstrate strong administrative skills, ethical conduct, and a dedication to uncovering facts. They would excel in organizing and managing information, utilizing investigative tools and case management systems efficiently. This candidate would also excel in communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders. Their commitment to integrity ensures impartiality and adherence to protocols. With experience and knowledge conducting investigations and audits, they would bring a blend of administrative proficiency and investigative acumen to the role, adept at navigating complexities and contributing to informed decision-making.

The minimum requirements are (2) years of experience assisting with routine investigative research associated with investigations of policy violations, alleged fraud, waste, abuse, criminal activity, or child abuse. Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis, provided that the requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent is met.

The ability to speak both English and Spanish is preferred.
