Nature of Work
This is an entry level position for an individual to perform auditing work of either resort tax accounts or roll-off companies remitting resort taxes or franchise fees to the City.  Assignments are specific and in accordance with departmental regulations and statutory requirements.

Illustrative Examples of Essential Duties
Obtains corporate information, copies of business tax receipts and other pertinent information on auditees
Prepares audit request letters and follows up to schedule audit appointments
Conducts field visits to business locations to obtain and verify audit information in compliance with pertinent City Code provisions
Performs audits of businesses’ accounting books and records either in City offices or off-site
Discusses any unusual findings with superiors during audit process
Analyzes businesses’ payment histories, completes audit work papers, and prepares draft report of findings for supervisor
Attends meetings with auditees or their representatives
Communicates results of audits both verbally and in writing to superiors and auditees
Defends findings when needed against disputing auditees
Assists in office as needed by answering customer inquiries and helping with various assigned administrative tasks
Performs related tasks as required
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Public Administration or Business Administration
One (1) year of auditing experience

Physical Requirements:Must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact
Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, word processor, calculator, and copier
Some crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, pushing, and pulling
Must be able to drive an automobile and perform on-site inspections at locations which may not be accessible to the physically handicapped

Reports to work as directed during an emergency as an essential employee of the City of Miami Beach
