As a Senior Criminal Investigator, PE-1811-2, for the Government Accountability Office your typical work assignments may include the following:

Performs complex and sensitive investigations of alleged or suspected criminal and civil law violations, agency rules and regulations, and white collar crime that involves fraud, waste, abuse and government corruption;
Prepares detailed reports on investigations involving criminal, civil, or administrative violations. Reports are referred to the Department of Justice or state/local prosecutor for prosecution and/or agency management for administrative remedies;
Briefs senior-level OIG and GAO management, Federal, state and local agency officials, Congress members and their staff to coordinate sensitive investigations and discuss investigative results;
Interviews witnesses, subjects, and informants to collect data. Distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information or evidence. Issues appropriate subject warnings. Issues documentary subpoenas.
