Job Description and Duties: The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has an opening for a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) position on our Staff Complaints Monitoring Team in Sacramento. With general direction provided by the Staff Complaints Monitoring Team Deputy Inspector General, Senior, the Deputy Inspector General will provide contemporaneous oversight and evaluation of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s process for reviewing and conducting inquiries of inmate allegations of staff misconduct and other grievances. The Deputy Inspector General will examine the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s compliance with regulations, departmental policy and procedures, and best practices concerning its handling of staff complaints and grievances. The incumbent will frequently travel to prisons, correctional facilities and offices, and regional offices of the Office of the Inspector General. The Deputy Inspector General will also conduct background investigations concerning potential OIG employees.

Salary: $6,040.00-$10,486.00 per month

Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) was implemented. PLP 2020 requires that each full-time employee receive a 4.62% percent reduction in pay in exchange for 10 hours of PLP 2020 leave credits monthly through June 2022.
