Inspector General Institute

The Association of Inspectors General presents its Inspector General Institute certification programs.  Participants receive instruction in core competency areas identified by the Association.  The Association awards the designation of Certified Inspector General® , Certified Inspector General Investigator® and Certified Inspector General Auditor® to individuals who meet the eligibility requirements regarding education and experience, and successfully complete the certification programs.

CERTIFIED INSPECTOR GENERAL®

The Association has identified six broad areas of core competency for inspectors general and their senior staff. The Association’s five-day curriculum covers the following six core competency areas:

  • Context of the inspector general function
  • Ethics
  • Legal issues
  • Office management issues
  • Investigating fraud, waste, and abuse
  • Audits, inspections, and reviews

CERTIFIED INSPECTOR GENERAL AUDITOR®

The Association has identified ten essential areas for inspector general auditors.

  • Ethics in audits
  • Working with investigators
  • Internal control
  • Forensic auditing
  • IT auditing
  • Peer review process
  • Identifying an reporting monetary benefits
  • Contract auditing

CERTIFIED INSPECTOR GENERAL INVESTIGATOR®

The Association has identified seven essential areas for inspectors general investigators.

  • The investigative process
  • Professional standards for conducting investigations
  • Ethics in investigations
  • Legal issues
  • Procurement fraud and computer crime
  • Investigative techniques
  • Working with auditors

2012 Winter Inspector General Institutes

Inspector General InstituteTM Professional certification programs offered;

  • Certified Inspector General Auditor (CIGA)
  • Certified Inspector General Investigator (CIGI)

2012 Winter- Clearwater, FL – February 26 – March 2, 2012

The next Certification Program offered is for the 2011 Certified Inspector General Auditor and the Certified Inspector General Investigator. The Institute will occur February 26 – March 2, 2012 in Clearwater, FL. The Association has entered into a contract to house Inspector General Institute participants at the Marriott Suites on Sands Key, 1201 Gulf Boulevard, Clearwater Beach, FL  33767,  (727)-596-1100.
Please complete, sign and mail the Application to the Association by Friday, February, 10, 2012.   Applications can be found to the right of the screen.

The applicant must also complete, sign and submit the appropriate paper application form, to the right,  as approval of the inspector general is required.
