Mark Anderson, the first Medicaid Inspector General for the State of New Jersey, was confirmed by the State Senate on December 15, 2008. When the Office of the Inspector General was merged into the State Comptroller’s Office, Mr. Anderson was appointed the Director of the Medicaid Fraud Division. As Director, Mr. Anderson is tasked with, among other things, detecting, investigating and preventing Medicaid fraud and abuse.
Prior to his nomination by Governor Corzine, Mr. Anderson served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia. While there, Mr. Anderson investigated and prosecuted fraud cases involving healthcare, Medicaid, telemarketing, drug diversion, and procurement. His efforts in the U.S. Attorney’s Office resulted in Mr. Anderson’s nomination for the Attorney General’s Award and Director’s Award in 2007. Before entering the public arena, Mr. Anderson spent several years as a lawyer in private practice.
Mr. Anderson graduated from Temple Law School in January 2000. Prior to law school, Mr. Anderson worked as an auditor for a public accounting firm and as an internal auditor for Cigna Corporation. Mr. Anderson obtained his C.P.A. certification in 1995, and his B.S. in Accounting from Penn State University in August 1990.
