Missions Accomplished

AIG President Len Odum

Fellow Association Members,

I am nearing completion of my second term as President and wish to take time to tell you that it has been an honor for me to have served you these past four years. I am proud of our accomplishments and excited about the future of our fine organization. The agenda I envisioned is now complete. My goals included (a) a complete revision of our information technology system. This more specifically included the development of a web based payment process, refinement in the use of the existing information system, establishment of an accurate membership database and access to all Association information via the web. Furthermore, (b) creation of the Certified Inspector General Auditor Institute (c) certification examinations for the three Institutes (d) establishment of additional Chapters and (e) expansion of the Training Conference Program to the southwest and western states, (f) assumption of part of the cost of training Chapter members and (g) encouragement of an environment of transparency, were all important for us. We continue our move to greater openness and transparency. During the Spring Conference in Indianapolis, the Board approved the Association’s Procedures and Policies Manual. (The manual is now accessible on our website.)

lt has been accomplished with the tireless efforts of those who served as Officers, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. Over the past four years serving as officers were Melinda Miguel, two terms as 1st vice-president; James Sullivan, 2nd vice-president 1st term; Steve Pasichow, two terms as 3rd vice-president; Sheryl Steckler 1-term Secretary, and current 2nd vice-president; William DiVello, 1st term Treasurer; Cheryl Ferrara, current Treasurer; and Lora Manon, current Secretary. A special thanks to Parliamentarian Stanley Olkowski, past President James Mathews and Executive Director Fred Palm.

We have momentum and must keep moving ahead. The election process that is underway will result in two new members to the Board of Directors. I ask all members to be diligent in their selections of our future leaders. I also ask all to volunteer or allow your staffs to assist in conducting peer reviews, teaching at our Institutes, serving on commit-tees and to attend conferences.

Due to a work commitment, I anticipate being unable to attend the Fall Conference in Newark. First Vice-President and Chair of the Certification Board, Melinda Miguel, will serve as Acting President. I have complete faith in her abilities.

I close by thanking you for the opportunity to serve the Association of Inspectors General.

Leonard C. Odom
President
