Important Notice to Certification Holders

The AIG membership year for 2015/16 began on July 1st.

If you are certified by the Association as a “CIG”, “CIGA” or “CIGI”, you must maintain membership as part of the requirements of keeping your certification in “active status”.

If you have not renewed your AIG membership for year 2015/16, your certification(s) are now deemed to be in lapsed status. This means that the Association no longer recognizes you to have a current certification.

To keep your certification current, the Association requires that you do the following:

  • Maintain current membership in the Association, and
  • Complete 40 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CPEs) every two years.

A copy of the certification maintenance policy is available here.

During the month of July, we provide a grace period for you to renew your membership in order to keep you certification current.

Thereafter, if you want to reactive your certification, in addition to renewing your membership, you will have to show proof that you have met the 40 CPE requirement for the last two years.

If you have any questions about this policy, please do not hesitate to contact Phil Zisman, Executive Director at:   pzisman@inspectorsgeneral.org
